Stark Neurosciences Research Institute's research is not only reflected across departments at Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine, but at several universities and institutions.Job Summary
The MODEL-AD (Model Organism Development and Evaluation for Late-Onset Alzheimer's Disease) program at Indiana University Indianapolis is seeking a motivated and dependable part-time Laboratory Assistant to support ongoing Alzheimer's research utilizing mouse models. The Laboratory Assistant is supervised by senior technical staff within the MODEL-AD research team and will assist with technical tasks related to both a preclinical drug study and primary cell culture experiments.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Assist with preparation of drug solutions, labeling, and organization of study materials.
- Prepare and fill syringes for dosing studies following established protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory workspaces and equipment.
- Assist with counting and documenting cells for primary culture work.
- Help with preparation of reagents and general laboratory upkeep.
- Follow all laboratory safety procedures and animal research compliance standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support ongoing research projects.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- Currently pursuing a degree in biology, neuroscience, or a related life sciences field
Preferred
- Experience working in a research or teaching laboratory environment
Required
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a research team
Preferred
- Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques (pipetting, solution preparation, sterile technique)
Additional Information
Extensive prior laboratory experience is not required. All necessary training will be provided.

Advertised Salary
$20.00 per hour
Work Hours
Minimum of 20 hours per week, with availability on at least 3 weekdays preferred.
Scheduling can be flexible to accommodate academic commitments.
