NIH FUNDED R01 • POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
Biomolecular condensates, protein quality control, & Neurodegeneration
The Wohlever Lab is hiring a postdoctoral fellow to drive cell culture-based research on how cells decide whether to protect or destroy disease-linked proteins.
Biomolecular condensates | Protein quality control | Alzheimer's & related dementias |
ABOUT THE POSITION We just received an R01 grant to study how Ubiquilins regulate the stability of disease-linked proteins through biomolecular condensate formation. The postdoctoral scholar will lead cell biology and biochemistry experiments to establish the mechanistic link between condensate formation and how Ubiquilins chaperone and triage substrates. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR • Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, or a related field • Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture who can leverage the advanced imaging capabilities within the Department of Cell Biology • Strong interest condensate biology and proteostasis • A collaborative and learning mindset. | WHY JOIN US • Mentorship focused on your career development. • Collaborative and collegial research environment with stable funding • Rigorous and supportive training in dissecting the mechanisms of proteostasis at the molecular and cellular levels. • Access to University of Pittsburgh core facilities, proteostasis, and condensate research communities. |
How to apply
• Send a cover letter that summarizes your contributions to science, research interests, and goals for a postdoctoral position and explain how these align with work in the Wohlever lab.
• CV with publication list
• Names and contact information for 3 references.
