Description

BrightFocus Foundationis a premier global nonprofit funder of scientific research and provides expert information to defeat Alzheimer’s, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. BrightFocus is currently supporting a $65 million global portfolio of more than 260 projects.  
 

Position Summary  

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is part of BrightFocus’ newly-formed Integrated Marketing and Communications team that aims to increase awareness and engagement for BrightFocus and its Alzheimer’s Disease Research, Macular Degeneration Research, and National Glaucoma Research programs. This proactive, data-and-deadline-driven position will play an important role in supporting integrated marketing and communications functions for the organization.  

The Coordinator will conduct cross-channel audience research that will help inform the development of a robust omnichannel marketing and communications strategy for BrightFocus. The Coordinator will collaborate with multiple colleagues across the organization in support of mission-driven and donor-centric organizational and departmental goals related to integrated communications, including Development, Strategic Partnerships, and Scientific Affairs.  

 

Responsibilities: 
 

  • Support the execution of integrated marketing and communications plans for all campaigns and initiatives, including the website and social media, through consistent content tracking and proactive deadline management  
     
  • Conduct marketing research; record comprehensive departmental metrics and share reports monthly to include program and publication metrics  
     
  • Provide marketing support for educational programs, events, scientific conferences, community outreach, and other communications efforts for BrightFocus and its research programs  
  • Conduct media research in Meltwater for all press release and news announcements; develop targeted media lists of contacts based on PR and campaign goals 
     
  • Ensure all marketing and communications deliverables and content is completed on time and in accordance with brand standards and defined goals 
     
  • Assist the Director, Social Media and Director, Marketing and Communications with the development of an optimized influencer and video/audio content strategy in support of established social media KPIs; help organize audio and video content 
  • Consistently update internal content tracking system to reflect status of content deliverables and provide status reports as required  
     
  • Assist with the scheduling of social media posts to reflect approved editorial content and calendars  
     
  • Monitor best industry practices and report to the Department monthly  
     
  • Help respond to comments following an established approval and review process across all BrightFocus-owned social media properties, including community groups; escalate comments for approval as needed   
     
  • Schedule departmental meetings with internal and external stakeholders; prepare agendas and presentations for meetings; provide follow up meeting reports and summaries/next steps  
     
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Knowledge/Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, advertising, or similar field; interest in non-profit, science, research and/or health marketing and communications  
  • One-to-two years’ relevant marketing experience at a non-profit or similar organization   
     
  • Knowledge of AP style a plus  
     
  • Ability to meet and track deadlines and coordinate priorities simultaneously while successfully collaborating with colleagues across departments and supporting the marketing department   
  • Self-driven and proactive, with strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills, and ability to use superior judgement skills to prioritize tasks  
     
  • Strong communications skills and ability to clearly, concisely, and in a timely manner across all mediums with internal and external stakeholders in a grammatically correct and professional manner  
     
  • Experience with Meltwater, Cision, Asana, Sprout, Hootsuite, AirTable, BrandWatch, CMS platforms, and Google Analytics a plus
