Work Environment
This position is structured for remote work, providing flexibility that allows for a work-life balance while meeting the needs of our clients. The clinic operates with a standard schedule from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts depending on patient requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments tailored to the unique needs of older adults, including their emotional, cognitive, and social factors.
- Design and implement individualized treatment plans that reflect patient preferences while addressing specific psychiatric conditions.
- Administer evidence-based therapeutic interventions; provide both individual and family therapy sessions that engage elderly clients in meaningful discussions.
- Collaborate with geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure an integrated and holistic approach to care.
- Provide crisis intervention and management during mental health emergencies, with the goal of ensuring patient safety and support.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment possibilities, and community resources to promote understanding and empower independent coping strategies.
- Maintain thorough and confidential documentation in adherence to legal standards to ensure the integrity of patient records.
- Participate actively in team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing professional development offerings.
- Stay current with research and best practices in geriatric psychiatry to enhance clinical effectiveness and patient outcomes.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The primary focus is on the geriatric population, comprising elderly individuals who may be experiencing a range of mental health disorders. Areas of concern include, but are not limited to, age-related depression, anxiety, grief, and adjustments to life changes. The role necessitates an empathetic approach as you will be forging relationships with older adults and their families to foster a supportive therapeutic alliance.
Qualifications
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- A current and valid license as either an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Arizona.
- Demonstrated experience of at least two years post-licensure, preferably within a mental health setting serving older adults.
- In-depth knowledge of geriatric mental health conditions and effective therapeutic interventions relevant to this population.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, showing a patient-centered and empathetic demeanor.
- Capability to establish rapport and build trust with elderly patients and their caregivers.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications.
- The ability to work cooperatively within a multidisciplinary team focused on comprehensive patient care.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with individual and family therapy specifically targeting geriatric patients.
- A background in crisis intervention and support in high-pressure situations.
- Familiarity with community resources and support networks relevant to mental health for older adults.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this position ranges from USD 75,000 to 100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
