Willow Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and fully licensed mental health therapist to become a key member of our specialized geriatric psychiatry team. This full-time remote position offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality mental health care from the comfort of your home, while making a significant impact on the lives of elderly patients. The salary range for this position is USD 75,000 to 100,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Work Environment
This position is entirely remote, allowing for flexibility while ensuring that you have the support of a collaborative team focused on geriatric mental health. Communication tools and telehealth platforms facilitate continuous interaction among team members, promoting an integrated approach to patient care. Our work hours are primarily Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, though occasional evening shifts may arise based on patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments tailored to the cognitive and emotional needs of older adults, ensuring each evaluation is comprehensive and sensitive to unique challenges.
- Develop, implement, and periodically review individualized treatment plans that address cognitive changes as well as the physical health and social realities of aging patients.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities to provide individual and family therapy aimed at resolving psychiatric conditions commonly found in geriatric clients.
- Work closely with geriatric psychiatrists to provide integrated care plans, ensuring consistency and quality of treatment across professions.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention and support to elderly patients experiencing acute mental health challenges.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health disorders, effective treatment pathways, and community resources, empowering them to make informed decisions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions and care decisions in compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
- Participate in ongoing team meetings, case consultations, and professional development activities to foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
- Stay updated on current research, best practices, and innovative therapeutic approaches in geriatric psychiatry to enhance the effectiveness of care.
Patient Population / Client Focus
This role primarily focuses on the elderly, addressing their distinct mental health concerns. These may include age-related depression, anxiety disorders, cognitive decline, and adjustment issues arising from life changes. Understanding the nuances of geriatric mental health is essential for creating meaningful therapeutic relationships and ensuring positive outcomes.
Qualifications
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- A current and valid state licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT.
- An understanding of geriatric mental health disorders and familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a patient-centered and empathetic approach when interacting with elderly patients and their families.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems, capable of navigating related technologies with ease.
- The ability to function collaboratively as a part of a multidisciplinary care team.
Preferred Experience
- A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in the mental health field, with emphasis on providing therapy to older adults.
- A proven track record of applying effective therapeutic interventions that cater specifically to the geriatric population.
- Experience utilizing telehealth technologies for virtual therapy sessions, adapting traditional methods to a digital format effectively.
