Serta Lane Consultation and Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our remote team as a specialist in geriatric mental health. In this full-time role, you will provide vital therapeutic support to older adults, addressing various mental health conditions through telehealth services. Your expertise will play a key role in enhancing the quality of life for our senior patients, as you collaborate with a supportive multidisciplinary team dedicated to their mental wellness.

Work Environment
This position operates in a telehealth setting, allowing for flexibility and the ability to support patients in the comfort of their homes. As a remote employee, you will have access to all necessary tools and technology to deliver high-quality care, including electronic health record (EHR) systems that facilitate seamless documentation and communication. You'll work Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, with potential for occasional evening shifts to accommodate patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments tailored to the unique needs and circumstances of older adults, ensuring a thorough understanding of their psychological state and lifestyle factors.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address cognitive decline, physical health issues, and social dependencies of patients.
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy or supportive counseling, aiming to alleviate symptoms of geriatric psychiatric disorders.
- Collaborate with geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care, ensuring all patient needs are met holistically.
- Offer crisis intervention during mental health emergencies for elderly patients, providing timely support and safety planning as necessary.
- Educate patients and their families about various mental health issues, available treatment options, and local resources to empower them in their care journey.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
- Participate in team meetings and case consultations to discuss patient progress and refine approaches based on collaborative insights.
- Stay updated with current research in geriatric psychiatry and engage in continuing education to enhance therapeutic skills and knowledge.
Patient Population / Client Focus
This role will focus primarily on the geriatric population, addressing the mental health needs of elderly individuals facing a variety of challenges, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, dementia, and adjustment disorders. You will play an integral part in supporting this demographic, ensuring they receive specialized care that respects their unique backgrounds and experiences.
Qualifications
- A valid Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Psychologist in California.
- Two years of post-licensure experience in the mental health field, preferably working with elderly clients.
- Thorough understanding of geriatric mental health disorders and familiarity with evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and a competency in using digital communication tools for telehealth services.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an empathetic approach, capable of building trust with elderly patients and their families.
- Ability to contribute effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic telehealth environment.
Preferred Experience
- A background in providing both individual and family therapy targeted at older adults, with an understanding of their unique psychosocial dynamics.
- Experience in crisis intervention and management of psychiatric emergencies within the geriatric population.
- Knowledge of community resources available for elderly clients and their families.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of USD 115,000 to 130,000 yearly, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
