Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments tailored specifically to the geriatric population, exploring individual circumstances that contribute to mental health conditions.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans, considering various factors such as cognitive health, physical conditions, and social dynamics.
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions including individual and family therapy sessions, focusing on the unique challenges faced by older adults.
- Work collaboratively with geriatric psychiatrists and interdisciplinary team members to promote holistic care and enhance treatment efficacy.
- Provide crisis intervention strategies during mental health emergencies, ensuring timely support for our elderly patients.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health issues, available therapies, and community resources to foster understanding and proactive care.
- Document all patient interactions and treatment plans maintaining compliance with legal and ethical standards for privacy and confidentiality.
- Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and ongoing professional development to ensure the provision of high-quality care at all times.
- Stay current on the latest research and advancements in the field of geriatric psychiatry and implement best practices into your daily work.
Patient Population / Client Focus
This role focuses primarily on elderly patients who may be dealing with a range of mental health challenges, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, grief from loss, and cognitive impairments. You will play a crucial role in enhancing their quality of life by tailoring therapeutic strategies to their specific needs and circumstances
Qualifications
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Texas.
- Demonstrated expertise in geriatric mental health issues, interventions, and treatment modalities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate disposition towards elderly patients and their families.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and comfort with relevant technology.
Preferred Experience
While a minimum of two years of post-licensure experience is preferred, candidates with significant hands-on experience working with older adults in a therapeutic setting are strongly encouraged to apply. Familiarity with various treatment approaches that cater to geriatric clients is advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits
Medway Therapy Clinic offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 75,000 to $100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
