Work Environment

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, focusing on the specific needs of older adults, including cognitive, emotional, and social factors.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that consider each patient's unique circumstances, such as physical health conditions and family dynamics.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual and family therapy, to effectively manage conditions such as depression, anxiety, and dementia-related disorders.
- Collaborate with geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare providers to ensure a holistic, integrated approach to patient care.
- Provide crisis intervention and support during mental health emergencies, ensuring timely and appropriate responses for elderly patients.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, available treatment options, and community resources to foster understanding and support.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and treatment plans in compliance with legal and ethical standards using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Engage in team meetings and case consultations to contribute insights and share best practices focused on geriatric psychiatry.
- Stay updated on current research, best practices, and emerging trends within the field of geriatric mental health.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your primary focus will be on providing mental health support to older adults experiencing a range of conditions including depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, and dementia. This role requires an in-depth understanding of the complexities of aging and how they impact mental health to effectively support our clients in achieving their therapeutic goals.
Qualifications
- Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Oregon.
- Demonstrated knowledge of geriatric mental health disorders and a strong command of evidence-based treatment modalities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, showcasing a patient-centered approach and empathy towards elderly patients and their families.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for patient documentation and treatment tracking.
- Capability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, fostering a spirit of cooperation and shared learning.
Preferred Experience
- A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a mental health setting, preferably with older adults.
- Experience in providing both individual and family therapy tailored to the needs of elderly clients.
- Strong familiarity with community resources specific to geriatric care that can assist clients and families in navigating their care options.
Compensation and Benefits
