Work Environment
This position allows for a remote work setting, providing flexibility while maintaining a strong connection to our outpatient office in Brockton, Massachusetts. Our operational hours are Monday to Friday, with core working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You may occasionally be required to accommodate evening shifts in response to patient needs. The remote setup ensures that you can engage with colleagues and clients through state-of-the-art telehealth technology, fostering a seamless interaction geared towards comprehensive care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth mental health assessments that focus on the unique psychological and emotional needs of older adults, utilizing specialized assessment tools tailored for geriatric care.
- Design and implement individualized treatment plans that account for cognitive changes, physical health status, and social circumstances affecting each patient's mental well-being.
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions through individual and family therapy, adapting techniques to address the specific age-related challenges faced by older patients.
- Collaborate with geriatric psychiatrists and other health care professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patient care, sharing insights and strategies during regular case discussions.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention for elderly patients experiencing mental health emergencies, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Educate patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, available treatment modalities, and community resources, facilitating informed decision-making.
- Maintain precise and confidential documentation that adheres to legal, ethical, and organizational standards using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Actively participate in team meetings and continuing education programs, contributing to a culture of professional growth and shared learning.
- Stay updated with recent research findings and advancements in the field of geriatric psychiatry to continuously improve the quality of care provided.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your primary focus will be on the geriatric population, addressing mental health issues prevalent in older adults. This includes managing conditions such as clinical depression, anxiety disorders, Alzheimer's disease, and other dementia-related issues, as well as offering support for transition-related adjustments that many elderly individuals face. You will play a crucial role in improving their emotional and psychological resilience.
Qualifications
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Possession of current licensure as an LICSW, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of Massachusetts is required.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and treat geriatric mental health disorders effectively.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong emphasis on empathy and patient-centeredness.
- Proficiency in electronic health records and telehealth systems to support efficient and accurate patient service delivery.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in mental health counseling, preferably within a geriatric or outpatient setting.
- Experience in providing family therapy and an understanding of family dynamics in older adult care contexts.
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices pertinent to geriatric mental health treatment.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary for this position ranges from $75,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience and professional qualifications.
