Work Environment
This role is predominantly remote, allowing you the flexibility to engage with patients from the comfort of your home while still maintaining a close-knit relationship with our team. You will follow a Monday to Friday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts required to accommodate patient needs. As part of a community health clinic, you will contribute to collaborative efforts that support the holistic care of our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth mental health assessments to identify the specific needs and concerns of older patients, ensuring that each evaluation considers the complexities of aging.
- Develop personalized treatment plans that are responsive to the individual's cognitive changes, physical health conditions, and unique social circumstances.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions including individual and family therapy sessions, aimed at alleviating symptoms of geriatric psychiatric conditions.
- Work collaboratively with geriatric psychiatrists and interdisciplinary teams to provide integrated care that addresses both mental and physical health challenges.
- Offer immediate support and crisis intervention during mental health emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of elderly clients.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health issues, therapies available, and community resources to empower them in their care journey.
- Maintain clear and confidential documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards, ensuring a reliable record of patient progress.
- Engage actively in team meetings, case reviews, and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in geriatric mental health.
- Stay informed about the latest research and advancements in the field, applying relevant knowledge to improve patient outcomes.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The primary focus of this position will be the geriatric population, particularly older adults facing a range of mental health conditions. You will provide compassionate care to individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, adjustments to aging, and dementia-related disorders. Qualifications
- A Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- A current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, or LCSW within the state of Florida.
- A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a mental health setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge base regarding geriatric mental health disorders, as well as familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities tailored to older adults.
- Proven experience delivering effective individual and family therapy to elderly clients.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills that cultivate a patient-centered, empathetic approach.
- Adeptness in building rapport and fostering trust with elderly patients and their families to facilitate therapeutic processes.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and essential computer applications for documentation and data management.
- The ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring comprehensive care for our clients.
Preferred Experience
While a minimum of two years of experience is required, candidates with additional expertise in geriatric mental health, crisis intervention, and family therapy will be particularly well-suited for this role. Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position ranges from USD 75,000 to 100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
