Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments tailored to older adults, considering their cognitive, emotional, and physical needs.
- Formulate and execute individualized treatment plans that address specific psychiatric conditions, integrating evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
- Deliver therapeutic interventions, including individual and family therapy sessions, using approaches proven effective for older adults.
- Work closely with geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to provide a comprehensive care plan, ensuring cohesive treatment strategies.
- Address urgent mental health situations by offering crisis intervention to elderly patients during critical episodes.
- Educate patients and their families on mental health issues, available treatment modalities, and community resources, fostering informed decision-making.
- Maintain precise and confidential records in compliance with HIPAA and ethical standards, ensuring all documentation reflects the patient's journey accurately.
- Engage actively in professional development, staying abreast of the latest research in geriatric psychiatry to apply new insights effectively.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your primary focus will be on the geriatric population, addressing mental health concerns that significantly impact their daily lives. This includes managing anxiety related to health decline, depression from loss or isolation, and helping patients adjust to life transitions. Understanding the nuances of aging helps you build rapport and trust, which is essential in fostering effective therapy and positive outcomes.
Qualifications
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Active and unrestricted licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Oregon.
- A minimum of two years of post-licensure clinical experience preferred, particularly in geriatric mental health.
- Demonstrated knowledge of geriatric mental health disorders and familiarity with evidence-based practices tailored to older adults.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
- Experience in utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems for effective patient management.

Compensation and Benefits
