Work Environment
This position offers the flexibility of a remote work setting, allowing therapists to effectively engage with clients while maintaining a work-life balance. Our team operates within a structured work schedule from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts based on patient needs. You will have access to modern technological tools and electronic health record (EHR) systems that support efficient documentation and communication with colleagues and patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly patients, carefully evaluating their unique emotional, cognitive, and social needs.
- Design and execute tailored treatment plans that consider the intricacies of the patients' health, including physical limitations and psychosocial factors.
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as individual and family therapy sessions, specifically addressing geriatric psychiatric conditions.
- Collaborate with geriatric psychiatrists and interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care, ensuring continuity in treatment and positive patient outcomes.
- Facilitate crisis intervention strategies during mental health emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of elderly clients.
- Educate patients and their families on mental health issues, treatment modalities, and available community resources to empower them in their journey.
- Maintain accurate, confidential documentation that complies with legal and ethical standards, ensuring that patient information is securely stored and processed.
- Actively engage in team meetings, contribute to case consultations, and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance therapeutic skills.
- Stay updated on the latest research and practices in geriatric psychiatry to continuously improve therapeutic effectiveness.
Patient Population / Client Focus
This position specifically targets the growing geriatric population in our community, focusing on the mental health challenges that arise in older adults. Patients often deal with complex conditions such as depression, anxiety, dementia, and adjustment disorders that follow significant life changes, such as loss of independence or the death of a spouse. As a therapist, you will be instrumental in offering compassionate support and effective therapy tailored to the seniors under your care.
Qualifications
- A Master's or doctorate degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid state licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, or LCSW.
- A minimum of two years of relevant post-licensure experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of geriatric mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment modalities.
- Experience in providing individual and family therapy to older adults is essential.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
- Able to establish rapport and trust with elderly patients and their families.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and related software applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a unified behavioral health approach.
Preferred Experience
While two years of post-licensure experience is required, candidates with additional experience in geriatric mental health settings or specialized training in therapeutic interventions for older adults will be prioritized. Familiarity with community mental health resources and working knowledge of crisis intervention strategies will also be advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 75,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
