Work Environment
This position allows for remote work, utilizing our telehealth facility. You will collaborate closely with geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals, fostering a supportive and integrated approach to patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments tailored to the unique needs of older adults, identifying potential challenges in cognitive, emotional, and social domains.
- Design and implement personalized treatment plans, considering individual circumstances such as cognitive changes and physical health issues.
- Provide individual and family therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based modalities to effectively address a range of geriatric psychiatric conditions.
- Work in conjunction with geriatric psychiatrists to deliver a multidisciplinary approach to mental health care, ensuring that all aspects of a patient's treatment are coordinated.
- Offer crisis intervention services during mental health emergencies, employing effective de-escalation techniques and support systems for elderly patients.
- Educate patients and their families on mental health disorders, treatment options, and community resources available to them.
- Maintain meticulous records and documentation that adhere to legal and ethical standards, ensuring confidentiality and regulatory compliance.
- Actively participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities, enhancing the learning environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Stay abreast of current research and advancements in geriatric psychiatry, applying this knowledge to improve therapeutic practices.
Patient Population / Client Focus
In this role, you will focus on the geriatric population, addressing an array of mental health concerns. Your work will directly support elderly patients dealing with significant life changes, psychological distress, and cognitive disorders, ultimately helping them navigate their mental health challenges with dignity and care.
Qualifications
- A Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current, valid licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Texas.
- A minimum of two years of post-licensure clinical experience working with elderly populations is preferred.
- Strong understanding of geriatric mental health issues, treatment methods, and effective therapeutic interventions.
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices and tools that cater specifically to older adults.
- Exceptional communication skills, along with a patient-centered and empathetic approach in engaging with elderly clients and their families.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and related technology to ensure seamless documentation and patient management.
- A collaborative spirit with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in providing family therapy specifically to older adults and their families.
- Familiarity with teletherapy and virtual interaction modalities within mental health care.
- Evidence of continuing education and active participation in professional organizations related to geriatric mental health.
Compensation and Benefits
This full-time position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $70,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to a robust salary, we provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
