Work Environment
This position is primarily remote, allowing you to deliver care from the comfort of your own space while maintaining a structured outpatient office environment. Our work schedule from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, enables flexibility in managing your commitments. There may be occasional evening shifts to accommodate the scheduling needs of our patients, fostering a work-life balance that is essential for our dedicated staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough and empathetic mental health assessments to identify the specific needs and challenges faced by older adults.
- Create and implement personalized treatment plans that integrate cognitive, physical, and social factors affecting elderly patients' mental health.
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual and family therapy, designed to treat various geriatric psychiatric conditions.
- Work in partnership with geriatric psychiatrists and multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated and holistic care tailored to individual patient needs.
- Deliver crisis intervention services to elderly clients experiencing acute mental health emergencies, ensuring safety and stabilization.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health issues, treatment options, and community resources to empower them in their care journey.
- Maintain accurate, confidential client records and documentation in accordance with relevant legal and ethical standards.
- Participate actively in team meetings, case discussions, and ongoing professional development opportunities to continuously enhance service delivery.
- Stay updated on current research and best practices in geriatric mental health treatments.
Patient Population / Client Focus
This role specifically targets the geriatric population, addressing unique mental health issues that affect older adults. As a Mental Health Therapist, you will develop strong therapeutic relationships with your clients, understanding their backgrounds, histories, and the multifaceted factors influencing their mental health. The primary goal is to improve patients' quality of life through targeted interventions and psychiatric support tailored to the aging demographic.
Qualifications
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current licensure as an LICSW, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of Massachusetts is required.
- Prior clinical experience with a preference for at least two years of post-licensure practice.
- In-depth understanding of geriatric mental health disorders and familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities.
- Proficient in delivering individual and family therapy tailored to older adults.
- Exemplary interpersonal skills complemented by a patient-centered approach, with a knack for building trust with elderly patients and their relatives.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant digital tools to facilitate efficient client management.
- A strong capacity to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
Preferred Experience
While a minimum of two years of post-licensure experience is preferred, exceptional candidates with relevant practical experience or specialized training in geriatric mental health will also be highly valued.
Compensation and Benefits
