The Medway Therapy Clinic is seeking a licensed Mental Health Therapist specialized in geriatric care to join our dedicated mental health team. This full-time role, performed remotely, focuses on providing high-quality mental health services to older adults, addressing their unique psychological needs and enhancing their overall quality of life. Work Environment
This position offers a flexible remote work setup, allowing you to engage with patients effectively while maintaining a manageable work-life balance. The regular work schedule extends from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts based on patient needs. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments tailored to the specific needs of elderly patients, considering cognitive, emotional, and social factors.
- Develop and implement evidence-based individualized treatment plans, integrating therapeutic strategies suited to older adults.
- Provide both individual and family therapy sessions, employing techniques grounded in research that effectively address geriatric psychiatric conditions.
- Collaborate with geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure a cohesive treatment approach that prioritizes patients' overall wellbeing.
- Administer crisis intervention strategies during mental health emergencies and provide timely support to patients facing acute challenges.
- Educate patients and their families on mental health disorders, treatment options, and resources available within the community to facilitate informed decisions.
- Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines to ensure compliance and continuity of care.
- Actively engage in team meetings, case discussions, and ongoing professional development initiatives to enhance individual and team competencies.
- Stay updated on best practices and advance your knowledge in geriatric psychiatry through continuous learning and engagement in relevant research.
Patient Population / Client Focus
This role specifically targets the geriatric demographic, focusing on older adults who often grapple with complex mental health issues. You will work with individuals experiencing not only anxiety and depression but also cognitive impairments manifesting through dementia and other age-related disorders. Your work will play a crucial role in alleviating their mental struggles and improving their emotional well-being.
Qualifications
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited educational institution.
- Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Florida.
- A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a clinical setting focusing on mental health therapy, preferably with a geriatric population.
- A strong foundation in geriatric mental health disorders and familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a patient-centered, empathetic approach to care.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and various computer applications to enhance patient care management.
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Preferred Experience
- Experience providing individual and family therapy to older adults, with a focus on addressing unique challenges faced by this population.
- A track record of developing treatment plans that integrate the physiological, psychological, and social aspects of aging.
- Familiarity with community resources that can assist elderly patients and their families in navigating mental health care.
Compensation and Benefits
