Willow Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic telehealth team. This full-time position, operating remotely, offers the opportunity to work closely with an experienced group of geriatric psychiatrists, focusing on enhancing the mental well-being of elderly patients. Work Environment
As a fully remote position, this role allows for flexibility in your work setting while engaging with clients through our comprehensive telehealth platform. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth mental health assessments that take into consideration the unique needs of older adults, applying a patient-centered approach.
- Design and implement individualized treatment plans that address cognitive changes, comorbid physical health issues, and social circumstances influencing mental health.
- Administer evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual and family therapy sessions, to effectively combat geriatric psychiatric conditions.
- Engage in collaborative efforts with geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive, integrated care for patients.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention and support during mental health emergencies, utilizing de-escalation techniques tailored for elderly patients.
- Educate patients and their families about various mental health conditions, the implications of treatments, and relevant community resources.
- Maintain thorough and confidential documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations as well as ethical standards to support patient care continuity.
- Actively participate in team meetings, case consultations, and continuous professional development activities to enhance clinical skills.
- Stay current with the latest research, best practices, and innovations in geriatric psychiatry for both personal and organizational improvement.
Patient Population / Client Focus
This role specifically targets the geriatric population, focusing on elderly individuals facing diverse mental health challenges. You will be engaging with clients who may be suffering from depression, anxiety, cognitive impairments, and other age-related psychiatric conditions. Understanding the complex interplay between mental health and aging is crucial, and the counselor's work will directly impact the quality of life and emotional stability of these individuals.
Qualifications
- A master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
- Current licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Arizona is essential.
- Proficient understanding of geriatric mental health disorders, interventions, and evidence-based treatment modalities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster strong relationships with elderly patients and their families.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and commitment to a patient-centered, empathetic approach to care.
- Competency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth technologies to ensure effective care delivery.
Preferred Experience
- Three years of post-licensure clinical experience is preferred, particularly within geriatric mental health settings.
- Demonstrated experience in providing individual and family therapy services to older adults.
- Previous involvement in multidisciplinary teams is advantageous, showcasing an ability to work collaboratively in patient care.
Compensation and Benefits
This position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $75,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
