Work Environment
This position is exclusively remote, providing you with the flexibility to work from your home while still delivering exceptional care to our patients. While primarily virtual, our outpatient office in Hialeah, Florida, serves as the organizational hub where we coordinate interdisciplinary care. You will engage with team members through technology, ensuring consistent support and communication in meeting patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments tailored to the specific challenges faced by older adults, utilizing standardized tools and clinical interviews.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans focused on improving mental health outcomes, incorporating cognitive and behavioral therapies that consider the physical and social context of each patient.
- Provide therapeutic interventions, including both individual and family therapy sessions, designed to address geriatric-specific psychiatric conditions.
- Collaborate closely with geriatric psychiatrists and allied health professionals to ensure integrated care, documenting all patient interactions in secure, compliant digital records.
- Deliver crisis intervention support, utilizing de-escalation and strong communication skills during mental health emergencies, ensuring safety and stability for elderly clients.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, available treatment options, and relevant community resources to empower them in their care journey.
- Maintain compliance with ethical standards and legal regulations by keeping accurate and confidential patient documentation.
- Actively participate in case consultations and team meetings, contributing innovative ideas that enhance patient care and team effectiveness.
- Engage in continuous learning by staying updated on current research and best practices in geriatric psychiatry.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your primary focus will be on the geriatric population, with specific attention to those suffering from mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, Alzheimer's disease, and other cognitive impairments. You will interact with not only the elderly patients themselves, but also their families and caregivers, to provide a comprehensive support system that fosters improved mental health and quality of life.
Qualifications
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required for this role.
- Valid licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of Florida is necessary to practice.
- Strong understanding of the unique psychological needs and therapeutic approaches suitable for the elderly demographic.
Preferred Experience
While we welcome all qualified applicants, candidates with experience specifically in geriatric mental health, dementia care, or working within interdisciplinary teams in outpatient or community settings will be prioritized. Proficiency in telehealth delivery and familiarity with electronic health record systems will also be beneficial.
Compensation and Benefits
