Work Environment
The position offers a flexible remote work setting, enabling mental health professionals to conduct sessions via telehealth platforms while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Our work hours extend from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts to accommodate patient needs. By utilizing state-of-the-art technology for teletherapy, you will have the opportunity to reach and positively impact the lives of elderly individuals across various settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to identify the specific needs and challenges faced by each elderly client.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans by considering cognitive changes, existing physical health issues, and relevant social factors affecting the patient's mental wellbeing.
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, which may include individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy, particularly tailored to address geriatric psychiatric conditions.
- Engage in close collaboration with geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals, ensuring a holistic approach to patient care and effective communication across the board.
- Offer crisis intervention and support during mental health emergencies, ensuring timely assistance for elderly patients in distress.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options, guiding them toward available resources within the community.
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in compliance with all legal and ethical standards, ensuring the ongoing monitoring of care effectiveness.
- Actively participate in team meetings, case consultations, and professional development workshops to enhance knowledge and skills within the geriatric psychiatry domain.
- Stay informed about current research, emerging treatment methodologies, and best practices in geriatric psychiatry to provide the highest quality care.
Patient Population / Client Focus
This role is primarily focused on serving the elderly segment of our community, addressing a range of mental health issues that are increasingly prevalent within this demographic. The counselor will work closely with older adults facing challenges such as adjustment difficulties, cognitive decline, and more severe psychiatric disorders. The ability to understand and empathize with the unique experiences of aging individuals is crucial for effective treatment and improving their overall quality of life.
Qualifications
- A master's degree or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Colorado.
- Solid background in geriatric mental health care and familiarity with telehealth practices.
- Proficient understanding of mental health issues common in the elderly population and effective therapeutic interventions specific to this age group.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in geriatric mental health settings and knowledge of aging-related issues.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with patients and families in a compassionate and effective manner.
- Prior experience using telehealth technologies for therapy sessions, with an understanding of the nuances involved in remote therapeutic practices.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this role ranges from USD 75,000 to 100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
