Work Environment
This position is designed for a telehealth setting, allowing you to work remotely while maintaining a dynamic connection with your clients through virtual platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients to discern their specific care needs, using evidence-based practices tailored for geriatric populations.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions that focus on emotional challenges related to aging, such as coping with loss, adjusting to life transitions, and managing anxiety or depression.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to design and implement comprehensive care plans that address each client's unique circumstances and enhance their overall emotional well-being.
- Provide educational support to families and caregivers, offering strategies and tools to improve emotional wellness and quality of life for their elderly loved ones.
- Deliver grief and loss counseling to individuals and families grappling with end-of-life concerns, providing them with compassionate support during difficult times.
- Develop and implement cognitive stimulation programs aimed at promoting mental acuity and engagement among the elderly population.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your primary focus will be on seniors, including those facing various mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, dementia, and grief. Understanding the unique psychological and emotional challenges these individuals encounter is essential to providing good care and developing tailored therapeutic approaches that resonate with their lived experiences.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
- A minimum of four years of experience specifically in geriatric counseling and mental health support.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with elderly clients and their families.
- Empathy and cultural sensitivity to effectively engage with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in conducting thorough assessments and formulating personalized treatment plans.
- Knowledge of ethical and legal standards in mental health counseling, particularly within the geriatric context.
Preferred Experience
- Specialized training or certification in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues is highly desirable.
- Prior experience using telehealth technologies for delivering counseling services effectively.
- Familiarity with evidence-based interventions tailored specifically for the elderly population.
Compensation and Benefits
