Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients to identify their unique psychological and emotional needs.
- Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions aimed at addressing the emotional challenges associated with aging, such as anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare providers, incorporating evidence-based interventions tailored to geriatric clients.
- Educate families and caregivers on strategies to support their loved ones' mental health, fostering a holistic approach to their care.
- Provide grief and loss counseling to clients and families grappling with end-of-life issues, helping them navigate their emotions during challenging times.
- Establish and oversee cognitive stimulation and mental health programs that promote mental acuity and engagement among seniors.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your focus will be primarily on the elderly population within the outpatient setting, engaging clients who may be dealing with a variety of conditions including dementia, depression, anxiety, and chronic illness. Your role will require sensitivity and adaptability, recognizing the diverse backgrounds and individual experiences of each client. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing their emotional quality of life and overall mental health.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license.
- A minimum of 4 years of recent clinical experience in geriatric mental health counseling.
- Proven training or specialization in topics related to aging and mental health, specifically tailored to older adults.
- Expertise in evidence-based therapeutic modalities suitable for elderly clients.
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on experience in both individual and group counseling settings, particularly within an outpatient context.

Compensation and Benefits
