Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly residents to determine care needs, utilizing evidence-based techniques and best practices.
• Provide both individual and group counseling sessions tailored to address the emotional challenges faced by seniors, focusing on aging, grief, and life transitions.
• Work closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to formulate comprehensive and personalized care plans that align with the unique needs of geriatric clients.
• Facilitate family education sessions to empower loved ones with strategies to promote emotional well-being and enhance the overall quality of life for elderly individuals.
• Implement specialized grief and loss counseling sessions to assist residents and families in navigating end-of-life issues, ensuring compassionate support during difficult times.
• Design and execute cognitive stimulation programs and mental health interventions that aim to maintain and boost mental acuity in our older population.
• Utilize appropriate clinical documentation and reporting systems to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in geriatric mental health counseling.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position primarily serves seniors, including those experiencing various mental health challenges related to aging, distress from loss, and significant life transitions. Your expertise will be instrumental in addressing the multifaceted emotional and psychological needs of this vulnerable population, fostering resilience and enhancing their capacity to cope with life's changes.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) designation in the state of Massachusetts.
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support.
• Specialized training or certifications focusing on geriatric mental health and aging-related challenges.
• Proficiency in delivering therapeutic services tailored specifically for seniors with diverse mental health complexities.
• Strong knowledge of evidence-based interventions that promote mental wellness in elderly clients.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to ensure effective connections with older adults and their families.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
