Work Environment
This position offers the flexibility of a remote work setting, allowing therapists to provide care from the comfort of their own homes while reaching patients across the state. We utilize telehealth technology to facilitate patient interactions, making it easier for both therapists and clients to connect regardless of location. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts to accommodate patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly patients, taking into account their cognitive, emotional, and physical health conditions.
- Develop personalized treatment plans that address the specific needs of older adults, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
- Deliver individual and family therapy sessions via telehealth, focusing on building strong therapeutic relationships with clients.
- Collaborate with geriatric psychiatrists and interdisciplinary team members to formulate integrated care strategies tailored to each patient's situation.
- Intervene in crisis situations, providing immediate support and stabilization for patients experiencing mental health emergencies.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health disorders, accessible treatment options, and community resources that could further assist them.
- Maintain compliance with legal and ethical documentation standards while keeping meticulous records of patient interactions and progress.
- Participate actively in team meetings and case consultations to promote collaborative practices and share insights across the organization.
- Remain informed on the latest research and developments in geriatric mental health care to continuously enhance therapeutic practices.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Our primary focus is on the geriatric population, addressing an array of complex mental health issues that significantly impact their quality of life. Patients may present with challenges such as depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, and adjustment issues related to aging and life changes. The therapist's role is to provide empathetic and responsive care, ensuring that interventions are tailored to each individual's life experience and current situation.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in Arizona.
- A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a mental health setting is required.
- Demonstrable knowledge of geriatric mental health issues and evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
- Experience in providing both individual and family therapy specifically for older adults.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage positively with elderly patients and their families.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other computer applications relevant to telehealth practice.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in geriatric psychiatry or similar fields would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with telehealth visiting procedures and best practices for virtual therapy.
- Competency in developing and leading therapeutic groups focused on specific geriatric concerns.
Compensation and Benefits
