Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to evaluate the psychological, emotional, and social needs of the elderly.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that consider cognitive, physical, and social factors impacting the patient's overall health.
- Provide a variety of evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual and family therapy sessions, specifically designed to address geriatric psychiatric conditions.
- Collaborate with geriatric psychiatrists and healthcare professionals to ensure integrated care and comprehensive treatment strategies.
- Offer immediate crisis intervention and support for elderly patients experiencing acute mental health issues.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and available treatment options, helping them navigate the complexities of care.
- Maintain up-to-date and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards, utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently.
- Engage actively in team discussions, professional training, and ongoing developments in geriatric mental health practices.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The primary focus of this role is to cater to the mental health needs of the geriatric population. You will address a diverse range of psychiatric concerns including depression, anxiety, cognitive impairments, and post-traumatic stress, ensuring high-quality care that leads to improved life outcomes for elderly patients. An emphasis on empathy, patience, and understanding is crucial, as many clients may be dealing with complex emotional and cognitive challenges.
Qualifications
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in Arizona with a valid and active license.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach, capable of building trust and rapport with elderly clients.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, essential for effective interactions with patients and their families.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems, enhancing continuity of care.
Preferred Experience
- A minimum of two years of post-licensure clinical experience is preferred, particularly in geriatric mental health.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of evidence-based treatment modalities suitable for elderly patients.
- Proven experience providing individual or family therapy focused on the aging population.
- An active interest in ongoing education and staying informed about the latest research in geriatric psychiatry is highly desirable.
Compensation and Benefits
